Mourning Tea was born out of the inspiration of Tea Socials in the Victorian Era. Intimate gatherings of like-minded people to discus and share in the journeys of their lives. A practicing tradition within the pagan communities in Salem, New Orleans and San Francisco. Kayla Baboolal, Toronto’s Shakti~Shaman, brings a modern version with a twist, to Toronto.
Mourning Tea Events will host both monthly New Moon socials and 2 main events throughout the year. The socials will centre on ritual and workshop in a ‘high-tea’ social environment. The events will be small to maintain a sense of intimacy.
The Journey, An Event Outline:
Each of our events begins with a simple ritual and/or guided meditation to get us in the right ‘space’ for the evening’s festivities. The rituals are based on ‘shamanic-folk hindu’ pujas but are meant to bring welcome to all paths. After the ritual, each guest will have the option to purchase a ‘Mourning Tea Ritual Kit’ to take home and incorporate into their daily routine. Each kit will be based on the event theme and energized with intent by Shakti Shaman, a hereditary island Rootworker and Reiki Master.
All events will encourage an aspect of giving back to the community. In addition to your ticket price, a ‘Donation Cauldron’ will be provided for canned/dry goods for Food Bank Donations, and charity donations in your name to a select organization which works in synergy with the rituals we will be performing.
List of Events:
